A brewery, a night club and three networking events - A quiet week then!

In reality it has been a very quiet week.

Monday evening was spent at home, very unusual for me a great deal of my networking events tend to be on a Monday. However, Tuesday made up for it as Manchester and the North West received a visit from FSB National Chairman Mike Cherry.

In the FSB world it does not get much bigger than this. I have know Mike for a number of years and always found him very articulate and extremely knowledgeable  on the political scene. Mike did not disappoint he advised on the current Brexit negotiations and predicted a deal would be with us within the next two days. He was spot on and the meeting enabled the members to question what the FSB was doing not only in relation to Brexit but for the small businesses across the UK and it would appear quite a lot. From brokering a deal with one of the supermarkets to pay their suppliers within 14 days to persuading the Chancellor to release more money for small business rate relief.

The meeting sparked a discussion between myself and a colleague about the attendees. Why were so many successful companies around the table. Quite simply they are more visible than their competitors. They turn up for every event and get involved. The FSB can open so many doors and these individuals realise that.

Wednesday had me trekking back into Manchester for our Multicultural Networking, the event is becoming more international with every event. Polish, Brazilian, Spanish, Italian, Irish and English. Good speakers and a new great venue at Workplace in Churchgate house of course an FSB member so good to keep it in house.

It has also been good to speak to accountants explaining how Premium Collections can help their clients to retrieve outstanding debt but when business owners come to you and say we may need our help it shows networking is not always instant but persistence pays.

A visitors day for my networking meeting on Thursday saw over 70 people in the room and again another on Friday where there were nearly 40 nosiness owners. So that was again two early starts but on Thursday evening we were invited to the opening of Vanitas in the old Masonic Hall which is Manchester's latest venue.

Looking forward to next week's variety of events.
