There have been so many articles recently about the etiquette of networking.
Last week I probably saw one of the biggest mistakes the majority of people make, especially by employed networkers.
Never rule anyone out! I was approached by a DBM at one of the six networking events I attended last week who told me the group was not for him as he was looking for corporate clients.
First mistake, he hadn't listened to the people speaking at the group and more importantly he hadn't done his research. Everybody's profile is on the group's web site so he would have not had made his second mistake.
Research is everything as the MD for one of Manchester's quickest growing companies was sitting on the same table as him and they act for not only some of the largest businesses in the UK but also across the globe!
So always do your research, never dismiss anyone in the room, listen to what everyone has to say as they may know you next best client.
